FastScribe Question and Answers
1. What exactly is FastScribe?
FastScribe is a method for a specialty care out-patient report to be dictated, transcribed
and approved with distribution to an electronic health record(s) and the patient’s
referring physician.
2. How could FastScribe reduce our practice’s costs?
FastScribe utilizes state of the art technology to capture voice and generate the text
documents. This technology includes background speech recognition that will allow
dictated reports to be edited at a much cheaper line rate than having them transcribed
directly from the voice file.
In addition, Transvation has negotiated prime vendor contracts with transcription
companies that will provide a lower cost per line for transcription than what you might be
currently paying.
3. Does this mean we will not be able to use our current transcription service?
The Transvation FastScribe service has negotiated prime vendor agreements with
transcription companies to ensure the most competitive price and highest quality. So yes,
you would have to migrate from your current service when converting to FastScribe.
Note: the agreement with the transcription vendor requires 24-hour turnaround time and
minimum quality scores of 98% accuracy.
4. When will the system be available for use?
It typically takes two weeks to start a new practice on the FastScribe patient reporting
system.
